Credit Card Changes

Credit Card Header

Dear Customer,

Our ongoing conversion to the Republic Financial Holdings suite of technology platforms will be reflected across many of our products and services. We understand that this is a big change and we want you to know that we are here to answer your questions, provide assistance and support you through this transition.

In keeping with our promise to update you throughout the process and to help you prepare, we would like to share some of the changes that you can expect from your new credit card account.

  • New Cards: You will receive a new Republic Bank Credit Card as part of the conversion. Your branch will contact you directly when your card is ready for collection. We encourage you to update any online subscriptions, bill payment services, and/or any other service or provider when you receive your new card.
  • New Account Number: Your credit card account number will change. You will receive your new credit card number when you collect your card in branch.
  • New Billing Cycle: Credit card billing cycles will be simplified as part of our efforts to serve you in a more timely and efficient manner. All customers will now have the same billing cycle. Your statements will be issued on the 20th day of each month and your due date will be on the 10th day of each month.
  • New Interest-Free Period: The interest-free period on your credit card balance will be extended from 25 days to 50 days. This means you’ll have a longer period of time to pay your outstanding credit card balance before interest is charged on your account.
  • Loyalty Programme: You will continue to enjoy the same rewards as before including 4% cash back on all purchases at grocery stores and gas stations. AAdvantage Mastercard holders will continue to earn one AAdvantage® mile for every U.S. dollar (or equivalent) spent on your card.
  • International Functionality: There will be no change in the functionality of your credit card. Your new card will be accepted locally and internationally, wherever you see the Mastercard symbol.
  • New Daily Purchasing Limits: Your daily maximum limit for purchases will be EC $27,000 or US$10,000. For purchases above this limit please contact your branch to increase your daily purchasing limit.
  • New Minimum Payment: Previously, minimum payments were calculated as 3% of the outstanding balance or a minimum of US $10–US $14. Your minimum payment will now be calculated as 2.77% of the outstanding balance or a minimum payment of US $20 (EC $54).
  • New Interest Rates: You will be contacted directly regarding changes to the interest rate for your credit card account. Our service representatives will be on hand to help you understand these changes and how they apply to you.
  • Insurance Coverage: All customers enrolled in Credit Protection at the time of conversion will automatically be enrolled in the BalanceCover insurance programme. If you are already enrolled, your branch will contact you directly with further details.
  • Cash Advance Fee: As part of the conversion process fees will be standardised to reflect existing fee structures across the Republic Group. A cash advance fee of 3.2% or a minimum of US $5 (EC $15) will be introduced as part of the conversion.

We are committed to working with you to ensure that these changes cause as little inconvenience to you as possible. Please be sure to update your payment details for subscriptions, billing and other automatic transactions when you receive your new account details.
