Cheque Book Rebranding FAQs

  • Why do I have to change my cheque books?
    As part of our continuing transition to the Republic Bank brand, customers are required to use Republic Bank (EC) Limited branded cheque books.
  • When do I have to stop writing cheques on Scotiabank cheque books?

    Cheques dated no later than November 30, 2020, will be accepted. These cheques will be valid for 6 months, after which, a new Republic Bank branded cheque must be issued.

  • What will happen if my cheque is dated after November 30, 2020?

    Cheques dated after November 30, 2020, will not be accepted by the bank and the bearer will be asked to refer to the issuer of the cheque.

  • Do I have to pay for the new cheque books?

    The Bank will replace any existing cheque book once presented on, or before, December 31, 2020. There is no change to the cost of the cheque books. Please contact your branch for further information.

  • Are the cheque books done locally?

    There is no change to the process of ordering cheque books. Please contact your branch for further information.

  • How long will it take to receive my cheque books?

    There is no change to the timeframe for ordering and receiving new cheque books. Please contact your branch for further details.

  • Can I request cheque books via telephone or email?

    There is no change to the process for requesting cheque books. Please contact your branch for further information.

  • How many cheque books will I be able to replace free of charge?

    The Bank will replace all unused cheque books on, or before, December 31, 2020, at no cost to the customer.

  • Should the customers destroy the cheques or bring them to the Bank?

    The customer can choose to destroy the cheques on their own or return them to the branch for destruction.

  • Can I still use my Scotiabank branded chequebooks until I receive my new cheques?

    Republic Bank will only accept Scotiabank branded cheques dated on, or before, November 30, 2020.

  • Would the printing of the chequebooks be expedited to avoid any inconvenience?

    The Bank will make every effort to have cheques replaced in a timely manner. However, there is no change to the process for ordering cheque books.
